Mission

Welcome to Pause Animal Wellness Sanctuary (PAWS), a nonprofit and charity recognized by the state of Colorado, organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes currently seeking tax-exempt status.

PAWS is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing a safe space for animals in need. While we are in the beginning stages of becoming an official sanctuary, our mission is to create a loving refuge for animals who have experienced neglect, abuse, or impoundment. Our initial focus is on rescuing and caring for dogs and cats, with plans to expand to include horses, cows, and other species as we grow.

PAWS is more than just a sanctuary for animals - it is a space for healing, connection, and education for humans alike. We believe in heart-centered living and meditation as a path to becoming more compassionate and attuned to pet family members.

As we work toward securing land and expanding our ability to rescue more animals, we are laying the foundation for a future where both animals and people can heal, grow, and thrive together.

Our Story

PAWS was founded in honor of Tobias, a beloved four-legged furry friend, whose love and loyalty inspired a vision for a sanctuary where animals and humans alike can find healing and connection. Tobias’s memory serves as the guiding light for our mission: to save lives, nurture bonds, and create a compassionate future for all creatures.

The vision for PAWS is for it to be more than a sanctuary for animals; it will also be a space where humans can reconnect with animals, nature, and their hearts. Through educational and contemplative events, workshops, and retreats, we will aim to cultivate and co-create experiences for mutual healing and understanding between humans and animals.

Further, we believe in the transformative power of heart coherence and meditation to reduce stress and promote wellness—not only for people but also for animals who have faced unimaginable hardships. By merging science, compassion, and mindful practices, we strive to create a ripple effect of healing that extends beyond the sanctuary.

While the business itself has been formed, PAWS is still in its early stages of inception, and many steps remain to bring our vision fully to life. We are currently fundraising to help cover initial start up costs, including applying for official 501(c)(3) status. This step is fundamental before we can begin our mission of rescuing animals in need.
